Description

For 300 years, the Slater family has farmed along Goose Creek in Virginia, primarily raising cereal crops and beef cattle. In 2010, the family added grapevines to that long agricultural tradition.
Slater Run Vineyards, founded by Chris and Kiernan (Slater) Patusky, is located in Upperville, Virginia. The winery produces 19 different wines, most of which come from the 13 acres of vineyards on the property.
Sustainability and land stewardship guide the daily operations at Slater Run. In the vineyard, the team relies on canopy management and mechanical cultivation whenever possible to reduce spraying. Much of the work is done by hand, from pruning and leafing to cluster thinning and harvesting. In the winery, fruit is sorted, fermented, and aged by varietal and press lot to ensure the highest quality.
With a commitment to the broader environment, the winery operates on 100 percent solar power. Three generations of the Slater family currently live on the property, and their work reflects a shared effort to preserve and improve the land for the future.
