October has entered the chat, and Middleburg is ready! The month brings a mix of longtime traditions, family favorites and plenty of reasons to make plans around town. There are races at Glenwood Park, art and music, community gatherings, family activities, Halloween festivities and events that offer something for just about every age and interest. It’s the kind of month that makes it easy to get out, see what’s happening, and spend a little more time with friends, family and neighbors.

Interfaith Blessing of the Animals
Bring the whole menagerie on Sunday, October 4 from 2-3 pm! Dogs, cats, horses, hounds, livestock, gerbils, fish, teddy bears, and all creatures great and small are welcome at the Interfaith Blessing of the Animals at the National Sporting Library & Museum. Beloved animal companions and their people will gather on the NSLM campus for a special service and blessing led by ministers from faith communities throughout the Middleburg area.
Whether they have four legs, two wings, fins, fur, feathers, or simply a favorite place in the family, all animals are welcome to take part in this annual community tradition. The blessing will take place rain or shine.
Coffee with a Cop is October 7
Start your day on October 7 from 8:30-10 am with a cup of coffee and good conversation at Middleburg Common Grounds during Coffee with a Cop. Members of the Middleburg Police Department and Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to chat with members of the community in a relaxed, informal setting.
It’s an opportunity to meet the officers who serve Middleburg, ask questions, share thoughts and learn more about the work they do throughout the community. Whether you have a question, want to put a face to a name, or simply enjoy catching up with neighbors over coffee, everyone is welcome.
Grab a favorite morning beverage, pull up a chair and stay awhile. It’s a simple way to connect with the people who help keep Middleburg safe and get to know them beyond the badge.
The 72nd Virginia Fall Races
A Middleburg tradition returns!
The 72nd Virginia Fall Races return to Glenwood Park for a full day of steeplechase racing, friends, food and fun in the Virginia countryside. One of Middleburg’s longest-running traditions, the races bring together families, friends, racing fans and visitors for an afternoon at the racecourse.
The day features a full card of jump races, with plenty to see and do between races. From tailgating with friends to watching the horses thunder past the finish, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Guests can settle into a reserved space or experience the excitement from General Admission.
Whether Virginia Fall Races are a longtime tradition or a first-time experience, the day offers a wonderful opportunity to get outside, catch up with friends and enjoy one of Middleburg’s signature fall events at Glenwood Park.
Wednesdays in October: Hitchcock Films at the Library
Get ready for suspense, secrets and a few good scares as the Middleburg Library screens classic Alfred Hitchcock films every Wednesday in October from 6-8 pm. The series brings the Master of Suspense to the big screen with a lineup of films filled with mystery, intrigue and plenty of twists and turns.
Settle in for a cinematic Halloween treat and discover, or revisit, some of Hitchcock’s most memorable films. Best of all, the screenings are free, making this a perfect midweek outing for movie lovers and anyone who enjoys a little suspense with their October evenings.
Grab a friend, get comfortable and prepare for a few surprises. Just remember with Hitchcock, things are rarely quite what they seem!
Land Trust of Virginia’s Sunset in the Field
Gather family and friends, pull on your boots, and head to beautiful Farmer’s Delight for the Land Trust of Virginia’s 6th Annual Sunset in the Field on October 11.
Spend the evening surrounded by the beauty of conserved Virginia countryside, with live bluegrass, delicious barbecue, local libations and sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains as the sun sets. It’s a chance to enjoy a quintessential fall evening while supporting the work that protects the region’s open landscapes for generations to come.
There’s plenty for the younger crowd, too, with face painting, yard games, goody bags and plenty of room to have fun on the farm. Bring the family, settle in for the evening and enjoy good food, good music and an unforgettable view!
Celebrate Halloween in Middleburg!
Calling all ghosts, goblins, witches, superheroes and hungry little monsters! Middleburg’s annual Halloween celebration returns October 31 with an evening of costumes, candy and community fun. The Middleburg Police Department and Middleburg Business & Professional Association will kick things off with the Annual Halloween Parade at 5 p.m. Participants should meet at the Middleburg Community Center before the parade gets underway.
After the parade, the fun continues at the Community Center with Hot Dog, It’s Halloween!, a favorite Middleburg tradition. From 5 to 8 pm, families can enjoy hot dogs, Halloween activities and plenty of time to catch up with friends and neighbors.
Put on your best costume, round up the crew and come make a night of it. With treats, costumes, good food and plenty of community spirit, it’s the perfect way to celebrate Halloween in Middleburg. Best of all, the event is free and family-friendly!
