A big thank you to Foxcroft for hosting October’s MBPA Biz Buzz!
With a motto of showing the world what an all-girls school can do, Foxcroft continues a tradition established by founder Charlotte Noland 112 years ago. Head of School Lisa Kaenzig and the Foxcroft community carry that spirit forward, including a strong commitment to being part of the greater Middleburg community.
“Welcome to Foxcroft and to the new Mars STEAM Building,” said Dr. Kaenzig. “We have everything open, and it is absolutely a thing of beauty. We invite you all to look around.”
“What we really do at Foxcroft is that we grow girls,” she continued. “We grow them from fourteen-year-old girls to being young women who are ready to go off to college and their careers. This building is a gift to us from so many in our community, more specifically four women who graduated from Foxcroft School. I wanted our girls to walk in every day and see the faith that previous generations of Foxcroft women have in them, and their abilities to move forward as alums.”
“I am so grateful to all of you for the warm welcome you have given to me,” said Dr. Kaenzig. “I had a longtime dream to return to Virginia, where I was born, and I am delighted to be back in the Commonwealth and be a part of this community.”
MBPA Updates
October has already been filled with wonderful community events, from the Interfaith Blessing of the Animals, where dogs, cats, a horse, and even a rooster received their blessings, to Coffee with a Cop at Common Grounds, The Hill School Golf Tournament, a writing workshop at NSLM, and the Oyster Riot at Boxwood.
“On October 10, we celebrated the 72nd running of the Virginia Fall Races,” smiled Punkin. “With beautiful weather, outstanding racing, and a great turnout, it was another wonderful example of what happens when a community comes together.”
The race meet is a true community effort, drawing a wonderful crowd to town each year, with many familiar faces returning year after year.
“Thank you to everyone who attended, the businesses that advertised in the program, and the sponsors who helped make the day possible,” she said. “The Virginia Fall Races also remains the longest-running sporting event donor to the Inova Hospital Foundation.”
The Middleburg Police Department’s new Beyond the Bell program is off to a great start! The first event welcomed 30 children from the Charter School, with Chief Shaun getting everyone involved and participating. Hill School and Banneker Elementary School are expected to be added as the program grows.
“As we get to the end of the year, MBPA has several openings on its Board and is looking for members who would like to get more involved,” Punkin announced. “If you are interested in helping support Middleburg’s business community, please reach out to a Board member by the end of October.”
Candidates must own or work for an MBPA Member Business and be in good standing (dues paid) for 2026 and must remain a Member Business in good standing throughout their term. Interested individuals may also email Katy at info@visitmiddleburgva.com to throw their name in the ring!

They and their families will be there, so please join us, as it’s a special time to honor the veterans in our community.”
