The Middleburg Business and Professional Association (MBPA) hosted its September Biz Buzz at the Middleburg Community Center; a place deeply rooted in the town’s history. Members and guests came together to connect and strengthen the ties that support both local businesses and the broader community.
“It’s wonderful to be back at the Middleburg Community Center,” said MBPA President Punkin Lee. “The Center is built on the land where my grandmother had her stable of show horses and field hunters, and she and my father lived in the house right next door. Among her clients were General George Patton and General Billy Mitchell. General Mitchell built Boxwood, now the site of Boxwood Winery.”
Founded in 1948, the Middleburg Community Center is one of Loudoun County’s oldest nonprofits. It relies entirely on community support to sustain its programs and operations and has welcomed more than two million visitors since its doors first opened.
“It’s wonderful to see a room full of happy people eating good food and having a drink,” welcomed Lynn Wiley, MCC Board President. “We have been in a transition for several months, but we are on the backside of that, and we are sliding into home plate!”
“Sue Foote has returned as Director of Operations,” she continued. “Sue keeps like lights on, the roof overhead, the grass cut and everything in between, and soon we will welcome Elizabeth Rose Fisher as Director of Development and Events,” Lynn said. “She comes to us by way of Vermont, Dallas and Foxcroft!”
MBPA UPDATES
Greenhill Winery is raising a glass to its 12th anniversary this year, marking more than a decade of welcoming guests to enjoy its wines and beautiful setting. Middleburg is also getting some well-deserved attention in the press: Veranda magazine recently named our town a favorite destination for interior designers seeking antiques, and Southern Living highlighted Middleburg as Virginia’s most picturesque small town for a dreamy fall getaway.
Mark your calendar, as Friday, November 21, 2025, is Pink Friday! Launched in 2020, this annual nationwide event encourages shoppers to support local small businesses before the holiday rush of Black Friday. MBPA board members Robin from Posh Pixies and Natalie from Lost Barrel are leading this year’s effort and will be visiting businesses to share more details.
