The Middleburg Business and Professional Association gathered in style for the August Biz Buzz at the Goodstone Inn & Restaurant, nestled right in the heart of Middleburg Hunt country. From luxury suites and cottages to weddings, special events, farm-to-table dining, and 265 acres of breathtaking countryside, Goodstone offers something for everyone.
“Welcome to Goodstone, we lucked out with the weather, and we appreciate the great turnout,” said Jefferson Van Allen, Experience Manager at Goodstone Inn & Restaurant. “We all really care about what we do here, so please enjoy yourselves, and we hope to see you here again!”
MBPA UPDATES
“A big thank you to everyone who participated in the 19th Annual Sidewalk Sale, and especially to those who shopped local,” said Punkin Lee, MBPA President. “With help from Bendure Communications, MBPA was featured on Fox5’s Good Day DC, showcasing some of the sale items live on air. Katy and Ali did a fantastic job setting up the display, with Katy playing the perfect ‘Vanna’ while sharing highlights of our shops and town. Many shop owners reported that new customers stopped by specifically after seeing the TV segment.”
We’d also like to thank the Middleburg Police Department for another fantastic National Night Out. From the doughnut-eating contest and dunk pool to kids’ rides, tug-of-war, and even a kiss from Sylvester the ram, it was a night full of laughter and community spirit. Best of all, the event raised $1,100 for Seven Loaves through generous donations.
Speaking of Seven Loaves, the nonprofit has been hard at work collecting donations for their annual Back-to-School Lunch Box Drive. Bring your new lunch box donations to Seven Loaves, which is in the back of the Middleburg Methodist Church. If you prefer to give online, please click here.
Back-to-school season also brings a partnership with Northwest Federal Credit Union and its Foundation, which raises funds to support scholarships and local students in need. Scholarship applications are available at the bank, and we encourage everyone to participate in this worthy cause.

It’s election season for MBPA! Nominations for board members will start in September, with voting taking place in October. Three current members are up for re-election—so if you’re interested in joining the board, now is the time to step up. A notification will be sent to all Members in September.
“Jefferson, as you know, was on the MBPA Board, but aspired to grander things,” laughed Punkin. “According to our bylaws, we can nominate a person to fulfill his term, and with Sue Foote’s return to the Middleburg Community Center, we thought she would be a great fit! Sue has accepted and will complete Jefferson’s term.”
“We welcome to our community the new Foxcroft Head of School, Dr. Lisa Kaenzig,” announced Punkin.
“I am so excited to be back in Virginia, where I was born,” said Dr. Kaenzig, who holds a Doctorate from the College of William & Mary. “It feels like coming home and I am delighted to be at Foxcroft.”
Prior to her installation at Foxcroft’s 11th head of School, Dr. Kaenzig served as Dean of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation & Director of the Centennial Center at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY.
