MBPA Updates
If you’ve ever wondered what MBPA does during the year (other than host the Biz Buzz!), community activities from 2023 included: Winter and Summer Sidewalk Sales, Halloween Parade, Independence Day Parade, two Concierge Tents at the Upperville Horse Show, Visit Loudoun Awards nominations, Town Christmas Tree Lighting, staff parking arrangements for Christmas in Middleburg parade day, three to four weekend of Dickens of a Christmas, free weekend hot chocolate and the Christmas Day Community Brunch.
MBPA partnered with the Middleburg Police Department for the Juneteenth Celebration, Duty Officer Card and three “Stuff the Cruiser” events in support of Seven Loaves Services.
MBPA sponsored the Rural Preservation Summit, National Night Out, and with the Town, presented the Job Fair and several business workshops.
This is all in addition to updating and revising Visit Middleburg, the Middleburg Gift Card, monthly e-Newsletter, monthly Events Calendar Card, Member Survey, Online Events Calendar, Black History Month and 11 Biz Buzz meetings!
“Congratulations to Foxcroft School,” said Punkin Lee, MBPA President. “Foxcroft was the only Virginia school and one of only 68 schools worldwide to earn the prestigious College Board AP Computer Science Award!”
As February is Black History Month, MBPA’s Facebook and Instagram features many of Middleburg’s African American business and community leaders, so keep your eyes peeled for these posts recognizing important members of our community.
“After 28 years, Maria and Pedro will be retiring and closing the Middleburg Deli on February 29,” Punkin continued. “I encourage you to stop by, get a sandwich, and thank them for being such a wonderful addition to this community.”
“The Museum of Hounds and Hunting will open on Washington Street,” she said. “Let’s all gather to welcome this wonderful new addition to town on March 14 at 5 o’clock for their Grand Opening.”
New MBPA members for 2024 include The Accidental Peacock, Slater Run Vineyards, Etten’s Eden and Fuog/Interbuild, Inc.
“MBPA’s monthly Board meetings are the first Tuesday of every month at Emmanuel Parish House at 5:30pm. These meetings are open to all members, and we encourage you to come!”
The Board met weekly during the month of January and accomplished a great deal, including:
- The Board revised the MBPA Member Survey for 2024. Your participation is needed, and responses are important to the Board and to the Town Economic Development Committee; please click the link and submit your feedback today! The deadline for submission is March 15.
- The Middleburg Business Forum group has debuted on Facebook. This is a private group open to all MBPA Members and all businesses holding a Town Business License. It is central place to share information/alerts and ideas for the Middleburg business community and we look forward to hearing from you! Please click the link to request to join. We will send a reminder shortly!
- Ali, Katy and the Board Members will be creating new video content for The Middleburg Minute beginning this spring. The Middleburg Minute will be 60-second video interviews featuring businesses, town events and general interest stories. They’ll begin visiting soon, so be ready!
