Fireworks & Festivities Light Up Middleburg This July

July continues Middleburg’s celebration of community, tradition, and summertime joy. The month kicks off with a red, white, and blue Independence Day Kids’ Parade followed by the Town Independence Day Celebration, where fireworks light up the sky and families gather for patriotic fun. From live music on warm evenings to open-air markets and local festivals, the town comes alive with the sights and sounds of the season. It’s the perfect time to soak in the charm of Middleburg and make memories under the summer sky.

Independence Day Festivities

Middleburg loves a party, and Independence Day provides the fun and fireworks!

Begin the celebration at the Middleburg Museum’s reading of the Declaration of Independence, then march in the MBPA Independence Day Kids’ Parade at 5:45 pm, starting at the Community Center and escorted by Police Chief Shaun Jones to Middleburg Community Charter School, where the Town of Middleburg festivities begin at 6:00 pm! This fabulous gathering includes live music, tasty eats from Moo Thru and Happy Family Ranch, and the American Legion will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs! Don’t miss the fireworks, which are set to light up the sky around 9:15 pm. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a great view from the ball field!

Please note: No pets or alcohol are allowed on school grounds. Parking is limited, so please plan ahead and respect all posted guidelines.


Messages in Bronze at Museum of Hounds & Hunting, NA

Celebrate the Museum of Hounds and Hunting North America’s 40th anniversary with a visit to both locations—the Davis Mansion in Leesburg and the Duffey House in Middleburg—for a special exhibition and sale of equestrian bronzes and paintings.

Featured are rare bronze sculptures by renowned artist Charles Cary Rumsey, available in a limited edition, along with a curated collection of hunt country-themed works by Anita Baarns, Sandra Forbush, Sue Kelleher, Gail Guirreri Maslyk, Carol McClees, Sally Moren, Leslie Sorg, Sam Robinson, Volrath Linda, Nancy Wiley, and Cathy Zimmerman.


A Penguin’s Heart: A New Family Musical

Featuring original music and a cast of talented A Place To Be campers and community performers, this heartwarming tale is full of humor, imagination, and plenty of surprises. Come escape the summer heat and be inspired by a story that’s as sweet as it is meaningful! Shows are July 12th and 13th.


Discussion with Author Kate Quinn at Greenhill Winery

On July 15, join Middleburg Books in the heart of Virginia wine country for a captivating afternoon at Greenhill Vineyards as we celebrate the paperback launch of The Briar Club, the latest spellbinding novel from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kate Quinn.

Hosted by Mary Beth Morell, owner of Middleburg Books, the event will feature a live Q+A with Kate Quinn, offering behind-the-scenes insights into the inspiration and themes of The Briar Club, her move away from wartime fiction, and the power of women’s stories through history.

After the conversation, guests will have the opportunity to meet the author during a book signing.


Middleburg Humane’s Spay-ghetti & No Balls Dinner

Get ready for a fun and meaningful evening—the Spay-ghetti & No Balls Dinner is just around the corner! Join Middleburg Humane Foundation (MHF) at the Mt. Defiance Cider Barn in Middleburg for a delicious dinner in support of a great cause. This lighthearted event benefits MHF’s vital Community Cat services and Kitten College program.

Each year, Middleburg Humane Foundation provides Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) services for nearly 450 community cats, helping to reduce overpopulation and improve the lives of outdoor cats in our area. In addition, the foundation takes in and cares for approximately 350 kittens annually, giving them a safe start through foster care, medical treatment, and eventual adoption.

Your attendance and support will directly impact these lifesaving programs—don’t miss this chance to enjoy great food and cider while helping our local feline friends!


Mixed Media Art Camp for Kids at AiM Gallery

Ready for a creative adventure this summer? Young artists ages 7 to 12 are invited to join our inspiring Mixed Media Art Camp—where imagination takes center stage July 21-25, 2025!

This isn’t your average collage class. Think: street art meets storybook illustration, fine art fused with found objects, and watercolor whimsy blended with bold graphic design.

Over the course of one exciting week, campers will dive into a world of artistic exploration, using everything from colorful papers and vibrant acrylics to flowing watercolors, bold pens, and soft pastels.

Camp Highlights:

Hands-On Workshops – Learn new techniques and express your creativity through guided sessions led by experienced instructors.

Artistic Exploration – Experiment with mixing media to create unique, layered masterpieces.

Creative Community – Make new friends, exchange ideas, and feel inspired in a fun, supportive environment.
