Overview: Join an engaging conversation about the spectacular trees of North America and the recent release of Smithsonian Trees of North America (September 2024). Ten years in the making, this indispensable text provides a magnificent overview of more than 325 common North American tree species, all with spectacular illustrations of their diagnostic features.
In conversation with Sir Peter Crane, President of the Oak Spring Garden Foundation and Dr. John Kress, Curator Emeritus at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History and author will give an overview of his new book. Together they will unpack how the text marries science and art to provide an insightful and compassionate exploration of the diversity, structure, form, and beauty of trees.

This event will be capped at 25 attendees. Registrations will be accepted on a rolling basis through Eventbrite until full. The event will begin with a wine reception in the Oak Spring Library at 5:00pm. The lecture will officially begin at 5:30pm.
