The Oak Spring Garden Foundation, a legacy of designer and horticulturist Rachel Lambert “Bunny” Mellon, preserves her extensive collection of rare books, artwork, and materials related to plants and gardens for education and inspiration. Visitors can explore her formal walled garden and enjoy a self-paced tour of the beautiful landscape in Upperville, Virginia.
Featured exhibits include “Fantastic Flora,” a digital display exploring the role of plants in history and culture, and “The Final Resting Place of President John F. Kennedy: The Untold Story of a Lost Memorial,” which highlights a memorial designed by Jean Schlumberger with Rachel Mellon’s support, never fully realized at Kennedy’s gravesite.
