Join the National Sporting Library & Museum for an engaging evening featuring CNN senior reporter Katie Bo Lillis, as she discusses her powerful new book, Death of a Racehorse: An American Story. Despite the title, Lillis refers to the book as her “love song to horseracing”, a deeply personal and unflinching look into the sport she grew up with.
Death of a Racehorse offers a gripping, on-the-ground investigation into the morally complex heart of the horse racing industry. The book explores the tension between human ambition and animal welfare, while also presenting a hopeful vision for the future of one of America’s most storied sports.
Lillis, who now covers intelligence and national security for CNN, began her career reporting on America’s wars throughout the Middle East. A Virginia native raised in the saddle; her first love was the world of thoroughbred racing. She currently lives in northern Virginia on a small farm with her husband and son.
Tickets for the event are available with or without the book. Signed copies of Death of a Racehorse will be available for purchase at the event, perfect as a meaningful and timely holiday gift. Don’t miss this thoughtful discussion and special opportunity to meet the author.
