Following a cocktail reception, Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) Virginia Director Sarah Francisco and Senior Attorney Greg Buppert join author Jonathan Mingle to discuss Jonathan’s book Gaslight: The Atlantic Coast Pipeline and the Fight for America’s Energy Future and how this saga is highly relevant to us today.

“[This] riveting report on a successful effort to thwart the construction of a natural gas pipeline from West Virginia’s fracking fields across Virginia to North Carolina.… [is an] illuminating background on the fossil fuel industry… [and] an impressive account of a David-vs.-Goliath struggle.” ― Publishers Weekly

The program will spotlight the work of SELC and many local people and organizations to successfully protect farms, forests, rivers, streams, and rural communities across Virginia and surrounding states from the damage of a risky and unnecessary methane gas pipeline. The discussion will also outline the lessons learned that apply to the conservation and climate battles of today, particularly the risks facing Virginia and other Southern states from proposals to lock in a new slate of gas facilities and push away clean energy.

All guests in attendance will receive a complimentary, signed copy of Gaslight: The Atlantic Coast Pipeline and the Fight for America’s Energy Future by Jonathan Mingle from the SELC.
