Salamander Resort wins Visit Loudoun marketing award
— Loudoun’s travel and tourism leaders gathered in Leesburg Friday to honor the people and places that draw visitors to the county at Visit Loudoun‘s 23rd annual meeting and tourism awards ceremony.
The ceremony, held May 10 at the National Conference Center’s West Belmont Place, highlighted successful events and tourism leaders who made a significant contribution to the industry last year. Among those winning awards was Salamander Resort & Spa, which took home the Marketing Campaign of the Year Award for its “Keeping Up with Cupcake” advertising campaign following the resort’s miniature horse.
Other Middleburg nominees included Reggie Cooper, general manager of Salamander Resort, for Manager of the Year; the Virginia Fall Races for Annual Event of the Year; Foxes on the Fence for New Event of the Year; and Marqui Simmons, concierge at Salamander Resort, and Sydney Smith, wine club manager at 50 West Vineyards, for #LoveLoudoun Ambassador of the Year.
The meeting also included the election of new members for Visit Loudoun’s Board of Directors serving from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2022, including Reggie Cooper and Chris Burns, president of Old Ox Brewery.
