30+ Things to Do in November in Middleburg, Virginia

— As fall turns to winter, Middleburg’s events calendar heats up with museum exhibits, live music, cooking classes, Thanksgiving celebrations and more. Check out our list of the events you won’t want to miss this month:

National Sporting Library and Museum Middleburg VA1. Gallery Talks at the National Sporting Library & Museum: Wednesdays | 2-2:30 p.m.

Each week, NSLM’s Clarice & Robert H. Smith educator or museum curators will give attendees a personalized sneak peek at traveling exhibitions, permanent collections, and the fascinating stories behind the works in the museum’s art collections. No two tours are alike, so come back for more! Reservations are not required and admission is free. Bring your friends! Gallery talks are every Wednesday at 2 p.m.

2. Symposia in Ancient Greece at the National Sporting Library & Museum: Nov. 2 | 6-7:30 p.m.

Join us at NSLM as Dr. Peter Schertz of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts presents on the ancient Greek tradition of wine drinking and entertainment: the symposium. Dr. Schertz has served as curator of ancient art at the VMFA since October 2006. His specialty is Roman art, with a focus on the intersection of art and culture, particularly art and religion. He is particularly interested in cultural interactions within the ancient Mediterranean world and how new technologies can help us understand and interpret ancient art. Dr. Schertz is the co-curator of “The Horse in Ancient Greek Art” exhibition. $5 admission, free to NSLM members.

8. Sunday Sketch with Barbara Sharp at the National Sporting Library & Museum: Nov. 5 | 2-4 p.m.

Join us for a free sketching session in the museum galleries! Supplies (pencils, paper, sketch boards, and clipboards) will be provided for attendees. This week’s featured artist is Barbara Sharp, an accomplished local artist. The program is free and open to the public of all ages. Participants will receive free admission to the museum. A Place to Be Middleburg Virginia9. “Behind the Label” at Waddell Theater: Nov. 8

This show is the brainchild of the brilliant Amy Stone! It is a show that highlights diversity, inclusion and disability. It also features many other amazing individuals with powerful stories to tell through, art, music and performance. Show starts at 3 p.m. Admission is free!

13. Historic Houses Dinner Parties: Nov. 11 | 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Join the Mosby Heritage Area Association for an elegant dinner party at a privately owned historic house. Dinners will be held at the following historic homes, all of which are near Middleburg, Aldie, Leesburg and Lincoln: Ardarra Farm, Oakland Green, Farhill Farm, Murray Hill, Narrow Gate, and Stoke.

All proceeds made from this dinner benefit the Mosby Heritage Area Association’s education programs held throughout the heritage area.
